Food Trucks in Harvard Plaza

On Saturdays, a variety of food trucks somehow make their way onto the Harvard Plaza between the Harvard Yard and the Science Center (see map below). This warm and sunny Saturday, students, tourists, and Cambridge residents alike were eating — the Chicken and Rice guys truck was there, Bon Me, and Zinnekin’s —, relaxing, and playing games from foosball to some version of curling without real ice (??). There were even firepits tended by a local firefighter.Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

I got myself a salad from Bon Me, with spicy peanut dressing and Roasted Soy and Paprika Tofu as my filling (you pick a main dish and then a filling). Sometimes a salad doesn’t quite fill me up, but this one really did the trick. The greens were loaded with pickled carrots, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, and lots of tofu.

Beware: the spicy peanut dressing was quite spicy — just spicy enough for me without being too much. Thankfully I got a Thai Iced Tea (if you haven’t tried one, you should) to contrast the heat.

My lunch was delicious and affordable; the salad and iced tea were only $9.50. A very impressive 9.5/10.

Although I was eyeing the Zinnekin’s waffles food truck… I guess I’ll just have to go back!
